I'M MELISSA

INTERNAL COMMUNICATIONS SPECIALIST

My passion for internal communications developed after years as an employment lawyer. Working through disputes on a daily basis, I grew to realise that the majority of workplace issues stem from misunderstandings and lack of trust between team members and leadership. I felt that I could make a greater difference in the workplace by helping foster those relationships (through better communication practices) than I could at the negotiating table.

My story

Professionally, I've worked across a range of industries including health and aged care, FMCG, not-for-profit, retail, construction and media. Since becoming an Internal Communication Specialist I've worked on a number of major transformation projects (rolling out new enterprise resource planning technology across organisations); launched new corporate strategies, values and behaviours; internally promoted large-scale industry initiatives; designed and developed new corporate intranet structures; and led communication strategies on a range of topics including sustainability and inclusivity initiatives.

After 20 years living in the city (Melbourne and Sydney), I went back to my country-roots and relocated to the Far South Coast of New South Wales in 2020, I love the stunning beach, the whales and the chilled lifestyle here. However, I'm regularly back in the big smoke for a city-fix, so if you need in-person support I'd be more than happy to come visit.
